0019 - Basic Fish Health Medicine Program
Welcome to the Basic Fish Health Medicine Program!Although open to anyone, this training program is targeted at veterinarians wanting to provide services to the fish farming industry. It consists of 5 online modules. The program is set up so that you will need to complete the modules in order. As you pass the quiz for one module the link to the next one will become active. When you’ve completed all the online modules, you’ll receive a certificate of completion of the Basic Fish Health Medicine Program. The authors and expert reviewers for this program strongly recommended that a hands-on field training be taken to complete your training in fish health medicine before performing Fish Health Inspections and Veterinary Health Assessments of fish. If you are interested in the certificate with field training, we encourage you to take the Complete Fish Health Certificate Program which includes a visit to a fish farm for hands-on training. Be aware that the field training is generally held in Wisconsin. For more information on this training, you can contact Myron Kebus, MS, DVM. Wisconsin veterinarians, you are required to take the Complete Fish Health Certificate Program in order to work with fish farmers on a variety of fish health issues, as well as complete Fish Health Inspections and Veterinary Health Assessments of fish. If you are not from Wisconsin, we recommend you contact your State Veterinarian to see if this program will qualify you in your state. Remember, it is your responsibility to comply with state regulations. We hope you will enjoy this course and your future work with fish farmers!
