0018 - Complete Fish Health Certificate Program

Welcome to the Fish Health Certificate Program!

Although open to anyone, this training program is targeted at veterinarians wanting to provide services to the fish farming industry. It consists of 5 online modules and a 6th module that includes hands-on field training after completing the first 5 modules. Be aware that the field training is generally held in Wisconsin. For more information on this training, you can contact Myron Kebus, DVM, the Wisconsin State Fish Health Veterinarian.

When you’ve completed the online modules and the field training, you’ll receive a Certificate in Fish Health Medicine. In Wisconsin, this qualifies veterinarians to work with fish farmers on a variety of fish health issues, as well as complete Fish Health Inspections and Veterinary Health Assessments of fish, both strategies for risk management in aquaculture. You should check with your State Veterinarian to see if this Certificate Program qualifies you in your state to work with fish farmers and conduct Fish Health Inspections.

Remember, it is your responsibility to comply with your state’s regulations.

The program is set up so that you will need to complete the modules in order. As you pass the quiz for one module the link to the next one will become active. The sixth module is the field training. There will be an additional materials fee for the field training. (This can vary depending on the field training that you and Your-State’s-Fish-Guy, arrange.) You will be instructed how to set up the field training when you get to module 6.

We hope you will enjoy this course and your future work with fish farmers!
